Posted On 15th/May/2018 By sophieh

Mental Health Awareness Week 2018 took place from 14-20 May and focused on the theme of stress.

Mental Health Awareness Week is the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for all.

In a fast paced corporate environment, where we seem to need to be connected, it’s important for us to understand and appreciate the toll that this lifestyle is having on our mental well-being

Living out of a suitcase can often have its challenges, so we have set out to summarise some top 10 tips and exercises for you to incorporate into your working week to make you feel happier inside and out.

10 ways to look after your Mental Health

Talk about your feelings – don’t bottle things up.

Keep active – keep moving, do a little bit every day, every step makes a difference.

Eat well – treat your health as an investment, not an expense.

Take a break – a cup of tea, ten minutes chill out and take a few deep breaths (you’ll be amazed how different you feel afterwards)

Drink sensibly – try to moderate your intake and look for delicious non-alcoholic alternatives.

Keep in touch – It’s good to know there is someone who cares, but also great for others to know you care too – spread the love!

Do something you’re good at – no matter what it is, colouring in, cooking or cleaning – the sense of achievement after is what it’s all about.

Accept who you are – sometimes knowing you’re cool and lovely is exactly what makes you beautiful, don’t be afraid to be different.

Ask for help – we all need it every now and again and there is nothing wrong in asking for some support, advice and encouragement.

Care for others – Even a smile shared is all it takes to brighten up someone’s day. Be thoughtful. Be kind and don’t be afraid to let someone know you care.

Take action for happiness, there are lots of things we can do to make a difference in our lives and the lives of other people. Don’t be afraid to lavish kindness and friendship around like crazy.

Little steps and remembering it’s OK to not be OK.
