Chief Executive retires from arrangeMY

It was with a heavy heart that we said a fond farewell to our Chief Executive and Founder Simon recently, after an amazing 27 years nurturing and directing arrangeMY.

After breaking into the hotel industry at the tender age of 14 as a banquet waiter in his hometown of Scunthorpe, Simon went on to complete a chef and management course after leaving school, before working in managerial roles across the UK.

Simon and his business partner set up BookOTel in 1989 after noticing a gap in the market for bespoke travel management companies that offered a comprehensive package of services, including event management, accommodation booking and venue finding.

BookOTel was re-branded and given a fresh and modern look in 2015, now known as arrangeMY and providing a range of business, event and travel services.

Simon commented: “I’ve really enjoyed the last 27 years and I’ve been privileged to work alongside some really lovely people. My family have been very supportive and I am now happy to be able to take a step back.

“I’ll still be chairman but I’m looking forward to taking some time out with no responsibilities. I will continue to volunteer at St Richards Hospice, arrangeMY’s charity of the year, but I also need to play golf, go fishing, carry on going on lots of holidays and cruises – not sure how I’ll fit it all in!”

Simon’s son Nick, who has been working alongside Simon for a number of years, will continue his role as Managing Director. Simon added: “I’m very confident in Nick’s ability, judgement and skills. With the help of the team he couldn’t be in better hands, especially as his two sisters are there to keep their eyes on him!”
